YouTube: Make Your Business Go Viral

Image
Without a doubt, YouTube is a phenomenal platform for all of your social media marketing needs. No matter your industry or size, it is my firm belief that any business can, and should, benefit from this platform. With over one and half billion monthly active users, five billion videos watched every day, and being the second largest search engine in the world, after Google, YouTube can be considered one of the greatest juggernauts of social media. ( omnicoreagency.com ) In 2005, YouTube helped to revolutionize the way media content is created and distributed via the internet. Users became the content creators and distributors, rather than passive consumers of media content distributed by professionals and corporations. On YouTube, the everyday person can become a star and a small company can create content that goes viral. It just depends on if you are maximizing the features of YouTube to make it work for you. This blog will cover how to successfully navigate your business’ n...

Facebook: Over 2 Billion Opportunities for Your Business to Grow

Image
Last year, I reached my 10th year anniversary on Facebook. It was an intimidating notification to receive, as I like to pretend I’m not getting any older. On my 10th anniversary, Facebook presented me with an elaborate video that chronicled my a decade's worth of wall posts, photos, and comments.  It’s a digital scrapbook that spans my high school days, all the way to where I am now, a PhD student in Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University.   While my Facebook and I have had moments of “It’s complicated,” I can’t help but cherish my profile and the easy access to businesses around the world. Facebook may not be the trendiest platform out there right now, but it certainly has been the most influential in the history of social media. Facebook is constantly developing features that keep its billions of users coming back. Now that Facebook has bought Instagram and the developers are implementing new features every day, it is my position that Face...

Snapchat: A Leading Force in Social Media Marketing

Image
It’s now time to discuss one of my favorite social media platforms, Snapchat. This app, started in 2011, offers social media marketers bountiful opportunities for direct engagement with their audiences by delivering lightening fast content and by giving users an all access pass behind the scenes of your brand.   Many wildly popular advancements in social media technology have stemmed from Snapchat. As previously noted in my Instagram blog, Snapchat was influential in popularizing the stories feature that has now flourished on Instagram and Facebook. Snapchat has also been known as the driving force of geofilter technology, as well as, filters and face swapping. This social media platform engages with its users in ways that many others cannot. Snapchat has been personally one of my favorite social media platforms because I can post even the most mundane things and not feel shameful about it. Within my own personal use, it always seemed that Facebook sh...

Instagram: Where A Picture is Worth More Than 280 Characters

Image
With over 800 million users, Instagram is a wildly popular social media platform that is visually stunning, engaging, and perfect for social media marketers looking to take their business to the next level.  Originating from 2010, Instagram has been an excellent alternative to text-based social media. Instagram allows users to edit photographs with filters and curate profiles filled with images of the lived experience. Instagram quickly became a great place for image-based marketing.  Originally focused on images, Instagram has expanded its features throughout the years to adapt to growing trends to include video and now live stories. One of the most successful features added to Instagram over the years has been its stories feature. Obviously, inspired by Snapchat, Ins tagram harnessed the power of stories in August 2016. Instagram stories have even become more popular than its predecessor, according to CNBC.com . I'm guessing Instagram success with stories...
